They come with a permanent adhesive that will keep the label from falling off or flagging over time under liquid nitrogen's conditions*. Hence, once the labels are applied, the containers/vials can be returned for long-term preservation in liquid nitrogen (-196°C/-321°F) or ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C).
