Pace Technologies, PC-1009-5L, 5-Liter High Viscosity Polycrystalline Dia-mond Suspension, 9 MicronFeature:Recommended for manual dispensingHigher cutting ratesVery uniform surface finishMore uniform particle size distributionHigher removal rates (self-sharpening abrasives)Harder/tougher particlesBlocky shapedHexagonal microcrystallites (equally hard in all directions)Extremely rough surface (more cutting points)Surface area 300% greater than monocrystalline dia-mondNo abrasion-resistant directionality (abrasion independent of particle orientation)The majority of specimens will use at least one if not multiple, dia-mond polishing steps. For metallographic specimen preparation, either a man-made synthetic polycrystalline dia-mond or a monocrystalline dia-mond is used and the dia-mond is either mixed into a suspending solution or is used in a paste form. Dia-mond is the hardest known material (Mohs 10, 8000 HV). It has a cubic crystal structure. For metallographic applications, both monocrystalline and polycrystalline dia-mond can be used, however, polycrystalline dia-mond has a number of advantages over monocrystalline dia-mond, especially for the finer particle sizes.
