Um den Studierenden und allen am Wetter Interessierten aber trotzdem einen Einblick in den tglich wechselnden Zustand der Atmosphre zu vermitteln, wird nach einfhrenden Betrachtungen zum Aufbau und zur Thermodynamik der Atmosphre ausfhrlich auf die meteorologischen Elemente und deren Messmethoden eingegangen. Ein kurzer Abschnitt befasst sich mit der Satellitenmeteorologie. Neben den synoptischen Systemen der mittleren Breiten und Tropen ist das Augenmerk auch auf die allgemeine Zirkulation und die Bildung tropischer Wirbelstrme sowie die damit verbundene Sturmnavigation gerichtet.
