Jiro Apron
Jiro Apron
Home chefs and grill masters, this one is for you! Our Jiro Apron comes to us from Japans Aichi Prefecture, where it was crafted from heavy, navy-colored cotton canvas following in the centuries-old tradition of Japanese sail aprons, or homaekake. A staple of Japanese workwear dating back to the 15th century, these aprons were originally made by Muromachi-era fisherman using bits of old sailcloth. From there, they grew in popularity among workers of all stripes and are still worn today by chefs in sushi and izakaya restaurants. Jiro can be secured in place thanks to a thick waistband strap stitched with white and poppy red details, which wraps around the waist (and, if tied tight enough, also acts as a sort of strength belt for extra back support). Also included is a single deep, angular pocket that allows you to keep any tools or gadgets right where you need them. A pretty yet practical piece of Japanese history, our Jiro Apron is a must-have for everyday use in the kitchen or for any other messy projects you need to tackle! cottonone pocket fringed edges handmade in japan DIMENSIONS18.25"W x 27.75"Hwaist tie: 94" long.
