Along with his scientific pursuits, Solvay had a passion for nature and exploring and was particularly fond of climbing the Matterhorn. After experiencing firsthand the dangers and harsh conditions of the Alps on one of his own expeditions, Solvay had a tiny cabin built just below the Matterhorns peak in 1915, which served as a refuge for any climber who was stuck in bad weather. Made from a soy wax blend and finished with a cotton wick, this candle is a departure from the brands usual floral scents, evoking that cozy Alpine cabin with inviting, smoky notes of applewood, amber, citron, clove leaf, canella bark, white birch, oakmoss, sandalwood and cedarwood.
