Die Festschrift enthlt Beitrge von renommierten Vlkerrechtlern und herausragenden in- und auslndischen Diplomaten und Praktikern. Die Schwerpunkte liegen bei Fragen des Vlkerrechts, Verfassungsrechts und der deutschen Wiedervereinigung. Besonders aktuell sind dabei u.a. mehrere Beitrge zum Sicherheitsrat der Vereinten Nationen, zum Seerecht, zu den Menschenrechten und zur Terrorismusbekmpfung. Die Themen nehmen Bezug auf die berufliche Ttigkeit des Jubilars, der an wichtiger Stelle an der Ausarbeitung der Ostvertrge und den Verhandlungen zum Internationalen Seerechtsbereinkommen beteiligt war. Tono Eitel war u.a. Vlkerrechtsberater des Auswrtigen Amts und Botschafter bei den Vereinten Nationen. The anniversary volume in honour of Tono Eitel's 70th birthday is a collection of essays by distinguished international law experts as well as prominent German and foreign diplomats and other specialists. The issues dealt with cover a range of themes relating to international and constitutional law as well as German reunification. Several contributions of particularly topical interest focus on the United Nations Security Council, the law of the sea, human rights and the fight against terrorism. The subjects covered are all reflected in the various stages of Tono Eitel's career. He not only played an important part in negotiating the so-called Eastern Treaties with the Soviet Union, Poland and Czechoslovakia as well as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, but also served as Legal Adviser of the Federal Foreign Office and as Germany's ambassador to the United Nations.
