Frank Wilde untersucht die Frage, inwieweit Armut bei strafrechtlichen Sanktionen zu einer Benachteiligung fhrt. Am Beispiel der Geldstrafe kommt er zum Ergebnis, dass eine strafverschrfende Wirkung von Armut festzustellen ist. Die Geldstrafe kann hufig bei einkommensarmen Personen nicht vollstreckt werden. Sie fhrt dann zur Inhaftierung und Armut wirkt so strafverschrfend. Als Lsung fr dieses Problem ist unter Beteiligung der Sozialen Arbeit die Mglichkeit eingefhrt worden, die Strafe durch gemeinntzige Arbeit abzuarbeiten. Der Autor stellt die These auf, dass es damit nicht gelungen ist, die strafverschrfende Wirkung von Armut zu beheben, sondern stattdessen mit der Einfhrung einer Arbeitsstrafe fr Arme eine neue Form der Diskriminierung geschaffen wurde.
