Soziale Ungleichheiten der Gesundheit bestehen bis ins hohe Lebensalter. Andreas Mergenthaler geht der Frage nach, wie gesundheitliche Ungleichheiten im hohen Lebensalter reduziert werden knnen. Ein zentrales Konzept ist Gesundheitliche Resilienz: Es bezieht sich auf Menschen in unteren soziokonomischen Statusgruppen, die trotz der damit verbundenen Risiken bei guter Gesundheit altern. Auf der Grundlage des Sozio-konomischen Panels (SOEP) untersucht der Autor, inwieweit soziales Kapital oder Gesundheitslebensstile eine Anpassung an soziokonomische Gesundheitsrisiken alter Menschen aus unteren Statusgruppen frdern. Die Ergebnisse zeigen Anstze auf, die zu einer Verbesserung des gesundheitlichen Zustandes dieser Gruppen und somit zu einer Verringerung des Health Gap genutzt werden knnen.
