Insbesondere verspricht die Kombination von Agententechnologie und Mobilittstechnologie Kosteneinsparungen und Effizienzverbesserungen bei der Optimierung der Logistik von Distributionsnetzen. So kann das Supply Chain Management durch Software-Agenten effizienter gestaltet werden, wenn diese etwa das Lager- und Flottenmanagement steuern. Ingo Pippow untersucht den Einsatz von Software-Agenten zur Lsung des sogenannten Peitscheneffekts (bullwhip effect), bei dem sich Nachfrageschwankungen so verstrken knnen, dass Hersteller mit scheinbar chaotischen Bestellungen konfrontiert werden. Er dokumentiert seine Ergebnisse anhand von Simulationen in einem Multi-Agenten-System und stellt damit ein Tool vor, das sowohl zur Simulation allgemein betriebswirtschaftlicher Fragestellungen als auch als Basis fr reale Anwendungen in der Distribution eingesetzt werden kann.
