Eine der Folgen, die sich aus der rasanten Weiterentwicklung von Wissenschaft und Technik ergeben, ist die Zunahme fachsprachlich bedingter Kommunikationsstrungen. Birgit Eckardt untersucht, ob und unter welchen Bedingungen Fachsprache zur Kommunikationsbarriere zwischen Fachleuten und Laien werden kann. Auf der Grundlage eines vierstufigen Kommunikationsmodells und unter Bercksichtigung von sprach- und rechtswissenschaftlichen sowie psychologischen und soziologischen Aspekten analysiert die Autorin die Fachsprache des Rechts am Beispiel des Ehescheidungsrechts. Die gewonnenen Ergebnisse lassen erkennen, auf welchen Kommunikationsebenen Verstndigungsschwierigkeiten auftreten und welche Strategien zu ihrer Vermeidung oder ihrem Abbau geeignet sind.
