Die Landeszentrale fr politische Bildung des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt kann 2001 auf ihr lO-jhriges Bestehen zurckblicken. Sie hat sich in diesem Zeit raum zu einer allgemein anerkannten Bildungseinrichtung in Sachsen-Anhalt entwickelt. Zu ihrem Ansehen hat auch die Herausgabe von zahlreichen Pu blikationen beigetragen. Eine der erfolgreichsten Verffentlichungen war ohne Zweifel die "Ge schichte des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt" von Professor Dr. Mathias Tullner, die bisher in mehr als 20.000 Exemplaren Verbreitung fand. Diese Publikation, die erste Auflage erschien 1993, schloss eine wesentliche Lcke, war doch die Beschftigung mit der historischen Landeskunde zu Zeiten der SED Herrschaft aus politischen und ideologischen Grnden bis in die 80er Jahre des vorigen Jahrhunderts hinein nicht erwnscht bzw. nur in Randbereichen mglich. Die Landeszentrale fr politische Bildung hat es daher als eine ihrer vor rangigen Aufgaben empfunden, die historischen Traditionen, die vielfltigen Impulse und Anregungen, die vom heutigen Sachsen-Anhalt ber die Jahr hunderte hinweg auf die deutsche wie europische Geschichte ausgingen, wieder ins Bewusstsein zu rufen. Dies ist ihr, wie die stetige Nachfrage nach dieser Publikation beweist, auch gelungen. Ich wnsche daher dieser dritten Auflage, die vom Autor berarbeitet und ergnzt wurde, erneut viele Leser und Leserinnen.
