Der Schwur filmischer Keuschheit, mit dem die dnischen DOGMA-Brder um Lars von Trier antraten, um den Prozess des Filmemachens auf das Ntigste zu reduzieren, hat zahlreiche Nachahmer gefunden. Die DOGMA-Filme sind inzwischen zu einem eigenen Genre geworden, ihre rohe sthetik hat sich etabliert und die Attraktivitt des Konzepts, die eigene knstlerische Arbeit aus einer Selbstbeschrnkung heraus zu berdenken, strahlt auch auf andere Disziplinen aus. Der Band versammelt elf kulturwissenschaftliche Beitrge, die sich mit den verschiedenen Wirkungen des Manifests auseinandersetzen: Kontexte sind u.a. die Authentisierungsstrategien der Medien in den neunziger Jahren, die Theorie des Dokumentarfilms und das Werk Lars von Triers. Themen sind die Herleitung des Film-Manifests und die Interpretation seiner Regeln sowie die Wirkungen des DOGMAs beispielsweise auf das Hollywood-Kino und auf auerfilmische Gesellschaftsbereiche. Ziel ist die kritische Evaluation der DOGMA-Filme und der ihnen zugrundeliegenden Intentionen.
