Kinderlden verfolgten unter anderem das Ziel, mit einem antiautoritren Erziehungskonzept eine neue Form der Kindererziehung und Kinderbetreuung zu etablieren. Neben einer umfassenden Literaturanalyse zeitgenssischer grauer Literatur und neuerer Studien zur Kinderladenbewegung rekonstruiert die Autorin die Lebensverlufe der Kinderladenkinder mithilfe des narrativen Verfahrens nach Fritz Schtze. Dabei arbeitet sie vier verschiedene Muster einer Kinderladenkindheit heraus.
