Zur Untersuchung des Einflusses von tubulrem HIF auf die renale EPO-Produktion generierte Navid Farsijani ein genetisches Mausmodell, in dem durch tubulre Vhl-Ablation, tubulre Epithelzellen HIF berexprimieren. Die tubulre Vhl-Ablation fhrte zu einer prompten Suppression der renalen EPO-Produktion. Anhand weitere konditioneller Mausmodelle zeigt der Autor, dass die Entwicklung der Anmie von HIF-abhngig ist, proximale Tubuluszellen fr die Regulation von EPO im Nephron verantwortlich sind und die tubulre Vhl-Ablation mit einer Reduktion der mitochondrialen Masse sowie einer Erhhung des kortikalen Gewebssauerstoffpartialdruckes (PtO2) einhergeht. Dies spricht fr eine multi-zellulre Regulation der renalen EPO-Synthese, in der eine Homostase zwischen tubulren Epithelzellen und REPC fr eine adquate EPO-Produktion der Niere notwendig ist. Zudem knnte der EPO-suppressive Effekt von tubulrem HIF einen pathophysiologischen Faktor in der Entstehung von renalen Anmien darstellen.
