Thomas Manns Doktor Faustus ist in vielerlei Hinsicht ein breit erforschtes Werk, jedoch nicht in Bezug auf seine Vertonungen. Der Vergleich zwischen Roman und Komposition ist im Forschungsparadigma der Intermedialitt angesiedelt und ermglicht die Rekonstruktion der kompositorischen Rezeptionsgeschichte von Doktor Faustus.
