This elegant handcrafted chess set and box combination includes our Fierce Knight Staunton with genuine ebony and boxwood pieces matched with our Classic Mahogany Chess Box. The knights make this chess set with their intricate detail including eyes, mouth, nose, ears, and mane that creates a fierce countenance for which this set is named. The pieces have a graceful profile and a tapered base design that further enhances the overall look. The ebony chess pieces are polished to an obsidian glassy black finish while the boxwood pieces are a light amber color and polished to a fine luster. The king is tall with an extra wide base of 1.75", an excellent size for casual games at home with family and friends and large enough to be left out for décor in the home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. Whether you are a casual chess player, collector, or buying a special gift for someone, this chess set is a tremendous value and an excellent choice that will be treasured forever.Our mahogany chess box is perfect for storing your ebony and boxwood chessmen - they look great together! This is a traditional chess box that is designed for stacking or laying your chessmen on top of each other and there's plenty of room inside.
