This chess set includes our Deluxe Old Club with ebonized and natural boxwood pieces matched with our Walnut and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board. The Deluxe Old Club is an ageless classic and is one of the most recognized chess sets among chess players. It has been featured on countless covers of chess books and other chess publications. Handcrafted from boxwood, the ebonized pieces are polished to an obsidian black finish nearly indistinguishable from real ebony. These are tournament size pieces with a tall king and a base diameter of 1.625", perfect for the casual chess game at home. The pieces are heavily weighted for stability on the chess board and have thick green baize pads. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.Our Walnut and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board from Rechapados Ferrer combines classic design with elegant features to create an eye-catching battle field for your chess game. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted from high quality walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a polyurethane finish that both protects and enhances the beauty of the wood. A wide and colorful burl wood delimiter accentuates the playing field while the black stained molded edge highlights the entire board. The squares are 2" and the footprint of the board is 21.5" square.
