This theme chess set from Italfama is based on the life of Mary Stuart Queen of Scots. Born during the Reformation, Queen Mary lived a controversial life during a time of religious turmoil when Protestantism and Catholicism fought for control. Linked to a plot to assassinate her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England, she was eventually executed. The pieces are cast from solid metal using the age-old lost-wax casting process. The pieces are then brass and nickel plated and sealed with several layers of lacquer to prevent tarnishing and keep them beautiful and shiny year after year. This is a large chess set with a 3.75" king. The interesting history with the artful design of the pieces make this a special chess set you will treasure a lifetime.
