Our Deluxe Old Club is a classic that has been a favorite with chess players for decades. These popular pieces are often displayed on covers of chess books and other publications. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The ebonized pieces are lacquer polished to an obsidian black finish nearly indistinguishable from real ebony. The king is tall with a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for tournament chess games. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, the pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.Our Deluxe Two Drawer Elm Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Case seamlessly combines functionality with elegance, offering a chess board and storage for chess pieces all in one. Handcrafted from solid wood, its exterior boasts graceful curves adorned with a three-row beaded section around the top and a refined molded edge beneath. The chess board, featuring high-quality elm burl and bird's-eye maple veneer, is accented by a decorative black delimiter highlighting the playing area. The chess board has two-inch squares and the case an overall footprint of nineteen inches square.
