From the craftsmen at Italfama in Italy, this stunning chess board made from the finest walnut burl and whitened bird's-eye maple veneer is one of the most beautiful in our collection. Walnut burl has unique and beautiful character with rich brown and orange colors that intermingle creating in irregular patterns making each chess board a unique creation. The high gloss polyurethane gives the chess board a glass-like finish that enhances the colors and dept of the irregular burl wood patterns. The whitened bird's-eye maple used for the white squares creates a wonderful contrast next to the much darker walnut burl. A black delimiter defines the playing area from the extra wide frame gives this elegant chess board visual balance.This is a very large chess board with 60 mm (2.375") squares and measures 23.5" overall. Chess sets with a king height of 4" to 5" and with a base diameter up to 2" will fit and look proportional on this chess board. Italfama's metal sets, Staunton ebony and ebonized sets, and padauk will look stunning match with this board.
