This beautiful European chess set combines solid brass chess pieces from the craftsmen at Italfama in Italy with a handcrafted wood chess board from Rechapados Ferrer in Spain. This is Italfama's Classic French Staunton chess set with a contemporary Staunton design that has unique shapes and features creating a look unlike any other. The knights are finely detailed including a bridal, mane, eyes, ears, and nose. Made from solid brass, the pieces are impressively heavy with the white pieces nickel plated for a bright silver look. The king is 3" tall and has a base diameter of 1".The blue ash burl and erable chess board creates a stunning backdrop against the bright gold and silver color of the brass and nickel plated chess pieces. The natural wood grain of the ash burl creates a range of rich blue colors that softly swirl and intermingle creating unique and colorful patterns. The white squares are whitened bird's-eye maple that contrasts nicely with the dark blue squares.
