The black pieces are made from African padauk, one of the most beautiful woods in the world, while the white pieces are made from the highest quality boxwood and polished to a fine luster. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to create a cohesive collection of pieces from king to pawn. The columns have a graceful profile that curve out beyond the layered collars creating a unique and elegant appearance. The knights are truly spectacular with a mane that gracefully flows down the back of the neck in every direction. The king is tall with a 1.9" base and has as traditional cross formée finial. The pieces are heavily weighted and have green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board.
