The chess board is made of the highest quality elm burl and bird's-eye maple with the squares surrounded by a wide black delimiter. The squares are two inches, and the overall footprint of the case is nineteen inches.A drawer on each player's side has a brass pull and the drawer comes completely out to make it easy to take pieces out and put them away. Each drawer has sixteen individual compartments lined with a soft velour material to protect each piece of your prized chess set.
