Brand new 1/160 scale diecast airplane model of Grumman F-14 Tomcat Fighter Aircraft VFA-103 "Jolly Rogers" United States Navydie cast model by Postage Stamp.Detailed exterior.True-to-scale detail.Comes with a display stand.This model does not have any openings.Manufacturers original unopened packaging.Made of diecast metal with some plastic parts.Dimensions approximately L-4.75 Wingspan-2.875 inches.Diecast metal and plastic construction for durability and a heavy realistic feel.It is a highly detailed and accurate model perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of military history.HISTORY ASPECTS:The F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic long-range high endurance interceptor fighter aircraft operated by the US Navy as their primary air superiority fighter and to defend is carrier battle group against anti-ship missles. The F-14 has a two-seat cockpit with a bubble canopy that affords all-around visibility. It features variable geometry wings that wing automatically between 20 and 68 degrees during flight. For high-speed intercept they are swept back and they swing forward for lower speed flight.US Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 103 (VFA-103) adopted the Jolly Rogers nickname in 1995 for the sinister white skull-crossbones on all-black tails painted on their F-14s. They provided support in the Yugoslav Wars and participated in the war in Afghanistan. Their last deployment with this aircraft was aboard the USS John F Kennedy in the Persian Gulf with Final Tomcat Cruise added to their famous tails. In December 2004 they returned home from their final cruise with the F-14 Tomcat and began transition to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
