The A-10A designed and built by Fairchild Republic was a dedicated close air support aircraft renowned for its ruggedness and firepower. With its distinctive twin-engine design heavily armored cockpit and the formidable GAU-8/A Avenger 30mm cannon the Thunderbolt II was perfectly suited for the most demanding combat scenarios.While 1982 marked the peak of the Cold War the A-10A Thunderbolt II was not directly involved in large-scale conflicts during that year.
