One of the most infamous moments in its history occurred on December 7 1941 during the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. PO3c Tokuji Iizuka piloted one of the Vals launched from the aircraft carrier Akagi participating in the devastating assault that brought the United States into World War II.The Val was a key element of Japans carrier-based air power playing a crucial role in early Pacific War campaigns. Its design allowed for precision dive-bombing attacks on naval and ground targets. The Pearl Harbor raid showcased the effectiveness of the Val in coordinated strikes.
