The B-239 a modified version of the American F2A Buffalo was initially met with skepticism regarding its performance. However Finnish pilots like Karhunen quickly adapted to the aircraft showcasing its effectiveness in combat situations particularly in the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front.Jorma Karhunen emerged as one of Finlands top aces achieving 31.5 aerial victories while flying the Brewster B-239. His skillful piloting and combat prowess were instrumental in numerous dogfights against Soviet aircraft. Karhunens aircraft distinguished by the markings of 3./Lentolaivue 24 became a symbol of Finnish resilience and tactical superiority.
