Das absolute Verbot der Folter, wesentlicher Bestandteil der groen internationalen Menschenrechtsvertrge des 20. Jahrhunderts, ist in jngster Zeit in die Diskussion geraten. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Reichweite des Folterverbotes zunchst auf der Ebene des Vlkerrechts und sodann in verschiedenen Rechtskreisen am Beispiel der deutschen, israelischen und pakistanischen Rechtsvorschriften. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird dabei der Frage nach der Zulssigkeit von Folter zum Zwecke der Gefahrenabwehr gewidmet. Es werden im Rahmen dieser Untersuchung neben der Darstellung der Rechtslage insbesondere auch die Auswirkungen des jeweiligen historisch-kulturell bedingten Verstndnisses der Menschenwrde auf das Folterverbot analysiert.
