Als ehemalige jugoslawische Republik und Land des Westlichen Balkans ist Bosnien und Herzegowina im Prozess der EU-Annherung mit dem Ziel der Mitgliedschaft. Zudem existieren vielfltige und intensive Beziehungen mit den deutschsprachigen Lndern. Doch wie gut kennen wir dieses Land? Was charakterisiert das politische System und die gesellschaftspolitische Situation Bosnien und Herzegowinas fast ein Vierteljahrhundert nach dem Ende des Krieges und dem Dayton-Friedensabkommen? Ausgehend von der geschichtlichen Entwicklung des Landes werden Verfassungsvorgaben und -wirklichkeit, der Fderalismus, das Parteiensystem, die Religionsgemeinschaften, Kultur- und Bildungspolitik, die Rolle der Zivilgesellschaft, die Wirtschaft und die Beziehungen zur EU analysiert. Diese Einfhrung will zu einem besseren Verstndnis Bosnien und Herzegowinas und zur Reflektion ber politische und gesellschaftliche Herausforderungen in Europa beitragen. Die Herausgeber Tobias Flessenkemper ist Politikwissenschaftler am Centre international de formation europenne (CIFE) in Nizza und Lehrbeauftragter der Universitt zu Kln. Dr. Nicolas Moll arbeitet als freier Historiker zur politischen Geschichte Europas im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert. Er lebt seit 2007 in Bosnien und Herzegowina.
