Unter Vorgeschichte versteht man gewhnlich die Geschichte der Menschen vor dem Einsatz schriftlicher Zeugnisse. In Bezug auf literarische Erzhlungen hingegen meint Vorgeschichte das, was zwar vor dem Anfang der Geschichte geschehen ist, aber erst spter erzhlt wird. Ein zentraler Text fr die Erforschung der Vorgeschichte sowohl in der prhistorischen Archologie als auch in der Narratologie ist die homerische Odyssee. Am Leitfaden der Homer-Rezeption geht die Studie deshalb den Formen der Vorgeschichte im 19. Jahrhundert nach. Wie wird Vorgeschichte zum Gegenstand der Wissenschaften?
