This chess set package includes our British Staunton Chess Set in ebonized and natural boxwood matched with our Deluxe Walnut Chess Case. Our British Staunton is based on an old British Chess Company chess set from many years ago. It's purely traditional with all the features a player and collector looks for in a high quality Staunton chess set. The ebonized boxwood is jet black with no visible grain just like real ebony while the cream colored natural boxwood is the perfect wood for the white chess pieces. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. The king is tall and has a base diameter of 1.375" - the ideal size for a game at home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. The British Staunton has been favorite with chess players for years and continues to be a popular choice. Our Deluxe Chess Case has two drawers with individual compartments for storing all 32 chess pieces separately. The compartments are lined on the sides and bottom with a soft beige velour material to protect the pieces from getting scuffed up. The case measures 19" square and is 3" tall. The chess board squares are 2" and are enclosed by an attractive black border. The sides of the case have an elegant molded profile and the board on top is enclosed by a frame.
