Our British Staunton draws inspiration from a vintage design originating from the old British Chess Company in the mid-1800s. Featuring a purely traditional Staunton design, the pieces are handcrafted from African padauk and boxwood and lacquer polished to a lustrous finish. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The king is 4"-tall with base diameter of 1.6" making it ideal for tournament games. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion on the chess board.
