This attractive chess set includes our French Lardy Series chess pieces handcrafted from boxwood matched with our Mahogany and Maple Deluxe Chess Board. This chess set draws inspiration from the vintage pieces once produced by the French Lardy Chess Company in France in the late 1800s. The simple yet distinguished design has proven a timeless favorite for generations of chess players. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The ebonized pieces are lacquer polished to an obsidian black finish nearly indistinguishable from real ebony. The king is 3.75"-tall king with a base diameter of 1.5", an ideal size for tournament chess games. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, thick green baize pads provide a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.Our Mahogany and Maple Deluxe Chess Board from Rechapados Ferrer combines classic design with elegant features to create an eye-catching battlefield for your chess game. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted from high quality mahogany and maple veneer and sealed with a polyurethane finish that both protects and enhances the beauty of the wood. A triple-layer delimiter accentuates the playing field and enhances the rich color of the mahogany. The squares are 2" and the footprint of the board is 19.5" square.
