Our French Lardy Staunton originates from the classic model produced by the French Lardy Chess Company many years ago. The simple and handsome design has proven a favorite for generations of chess players. The pieces are beautifully shaped with simple detail that will withstand the wear and tear of regular use. This set features a tall king with a base of 1.375", an ideal set for casual games at home with family and friends. Pieces have green billiard cloth pads for a soft landing on the chess board and are nicely weighted for stability. The golden rosewood has rich golden-brown colors and a beautiful grain while the cream colored natural boxwood is the perfect wood for the white chess pieces. The pieces are hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. We include 2 spare queens for pawn promotion and certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, where it came from, and when it was made. The French Lardy continues to be one of the most popular chess sets ever made and is an excellent choice for your chess game!This attractive walnut chess box is perfect for storing your golden rosewood chessmen. This is a traditional chess box that is designed for stacking or laying your chessmen on top of each other and there's plenty of room. It has an old world-charm with its lock and key for securing the lid and emerald green baize interior with a divider in the center for separating the two chess piece colors. This is an inlaid wood box with high quality walnut veneer on the outside and sealed with a satin polyurethane finish. The lock and recessed hinges are brass plated and have a rich looking gold-color mirror finish.
