This unique chess set includes our Bohemian Series Chess Pieces in ebonized and natural boxwood matched with Italfama's Elm Burl and Erable Chess Board and our Classic Elm Burl Chess Box. Our Bohemian draws inspiration from a vintage German design of the 1950s, showcasing a distinctive knight with enchanting dragon-like features. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The pieces are handcrafted from boxwood with the ebonized pieces stained and polished to a lustrous black ebony-like finish. This is a large, tournament size set with a 4-inch-tall king. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion and that allow the pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board. The simplistic but elegant elements of this unique design from king to pawn allow the game itself to be the focus of attention while enhancing every move.Our Elm Burl and Erable Chess Board from Italfama features a classic design with vibrant colors that create a beautiful contrast against the black and boxwood pieces. Elm burl is one of the most beautiful woods in the world with unique wood grain patterns and colors that range from coral orange to chestnut brown. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted from the finest elm burl and erable veneer and sealed with a polyurethane finish that both protects and enhances the beauty of the wood. A black delimiter accentuates the playing field while an extra wide frame adds a level of simple sophistication. The squares are 2.125" and the footprint of the board is 21.7.5" square. Four felt pads on the bottom will protect whatever furniture the board sets on.Our Classic Elm Burl Chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality boxes from years ago. The box is covered in elm burl veneer while the interior is lined with a luxurious thick green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box is a loose-piece design for simple stacking of the pieces and has a divider in the center for neatly storing the black and white pieces separately.
