The perked ears, eyes, mouth, and mane create a fierce looking countenance that gives this set its name. The pieces have an elegant profile that is carefully turned to perfection on every piece and the acacia and boxwood are hand polished to a rich sheen. The pieces are triple weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. The bottom of the pieces are padded with the traditional thick green baize for easily sliding from square to square and a soft feel when sitting down.Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird's-eye maple frame.
