This exquisite handcrafted chess set and box combination includes our New Exclusive Staunton with ebonized boxwood and natural boxwood pieces matched with our Walnut Chess Box. The knight has an elegant design reminiscent of an old Jaques pattern with intricately carved detail including eyes, mouth, nose, ears, and mane. The pieces have a graceful profile and a tapered base design that further enhances the overall look. The ebonized boxwood pieces are jet black and polished to a beautiful luster giving them the look of real ebony at less than half the cost. The king is tall with an extra wide base of 1.375", an excellent size for casual games at home with family and friends and large enough to be left out for décor in the home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. Whether you are a casual chess player, collector, or buying a special gift for someone, this chess set is a tremendous value and an excellent choice that will be treasured forever.Our walnut chess box is perfect for storing your ebonized boxwood chessmen - they look great together! This is a traditional chess box that is designed for stacking or laying your chessmen on top of each other and there's plenty of room inside. It has an old world-charm with its lock and key for securing the lid and emerald green baize interior with a divider in the center for separating the two chess piece colors. This is an inlaid wood box with high quality walnut veneer on the outside and sealed with a satin polyurethane finish. The lock and recessed hinges are brass plated and have a rich looking gold-color mirror finish.
