Imported from Italy, this stunning chess set from Italfama includes their Caesar theme brass and nickel plated pieces with their Walnut Burl and Whitened Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board. Julius Caesar is one of the most influential men in the history of the world and played a critical role in the transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. He was a military and political genius with major achievements in both areas. The pieces are massive and heavy with a 4.75" tall king. Made of cast zinc using the old-world lost wax casting process, the pieces brass and nickel plated and then sealed with a lacquer to keep them from tarnishing over time. The chess board made from the finest walnut burl and whitened bird's-eye maple veneer is one of the most beautiful in our collection. Walnut burl has unique and beautiful character with rich brown and orange colors that intermingle creating in irregular patterns making each chess board a unique creation. The whitened bird's-eye maple used for the white squares creates a wonderful contrast next to the much darker walnut burl. A black delimiter defines the playing area from the extra wide frame gives this elegant chess board visual balance.
