This elegant chess set from Italy includes Italfama's Egyptian Hand Painted Metal Theme Chess Set and Walnut Burl and Erable Chess Board. This magnificent chess set is one of Italfama's finest works. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and intricately detailed representing figures from the ancient Egyptian empire. The pieces are made from solid zinc using the lost wax casting process and are brass and nickel plated. Each piece is hand painted in bright colors you might expect to see if you were back in ancient Egypt and then lacquered to prevent the pieces from ever tarnishing. This is an impressively large set with a 5" tall king and also very heavy weighing nearly 15 pounds. The Walnut Burl and Erable chess board is one of the most beautiful chess boards in our collection. Walnut burl has a unique and colorful character with rich brown colors that intermingle creating irregular patterns. The color of the wood creates a beautiful backdrop and contract for the brightly painted pieces as they reflect off the glass-like finish of the chess board. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted by the skilled craftsmen of Italfama and the quality of the workmanship is unsurpassed.
