From the workshop of Italfama in Florence, Italy, comes this extraordinarily rich looking chess set package that includes their gold and silver plated Classic Staunton Chessmen matched with their Alabaster Single Drawer Chess Case. This attractive chess set has a traditional Staunton design that everyone recognizes. The entire surface of each piece is decorated with a unique ornamental engraving giving them a luxurious appearance. The king is 7.5 cm (approx. 3") tall and has a base diameter of 2.5 cm (approx. 1"). The pieces are solid cast zinc formed by the old-world lost-wax casting process and are gold and silver plated. The pieces are lacquered to prevent them from ever tarnishing and have red felt pads embossed with the Italfama logo. Being solid metal the pieces are extraordinarily heavy with the complete set weighing over 5 pounds.The chess case is beautifully designed and skillfully constructed by the craftsmen of Italfama and compliments the richness of the brass pieces . The case features a solid fruit hardwood frame with an elegant molded profile surrounding a beautiful brown and white Tuscan marble chess board on top. It has a single drawer with two compartments for storing the chess pieces when you want to put them away. Large round legs elevate the case highlighting every aspect of its elegant shape and design. The brown squares of the Tuscan marble chess board are a mix of brown colors intermingled with darker veins creating unique and colorful patterns. The squares are 1.75" with an overall size of 18.1" and stands 4.25" tall.
