The Reykjavik draws inspiration from the chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he beat reigning world champion and Grandmaster Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The pieces are sealed in a gloss lacquer finish that enhances the beauty of the wood. The king is tall with a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for tournament chess games. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, the pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.Our Deluxe Two Drawer Elm Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Case seamlessly combines functionality with elegance, offering a chess board and storage for chess pieces all in one. Handcrafted from solid wood, its exterior boasts graceful curves adorned with a three-row beaded section around the top and a refined molded edge beneath. The chess board, featuring high-quality elm burl and bird's-eye maple veneer, is accented by a decorative black delimiter highlighting the playing area.
