This beautiful chess set combines our Colombian Knight Staunton pieces in ebony and boxwood with Italfama's Walnut Burl and Erable Chess Board. After an absence of nearly ten years, we brought the Colombian Knight Staunton chess set in 2021 for a special limited edition release. This elegant Staunton chess set brings together the very best features of a heirloom quality set blending traditional Staunton elements with unique design concepts. The knight is beautifully sculpted with a one-of-a-kind armor plated body and realistic features including ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. Only the very best carvers in the world can accurately carve and replicate the details of this knight from piece to piece. The other pieces are equally well crafted with wood turning that is is extraordinary. The Columbian Knight is a very large set with a 4.6 inch tall king with a base diameter of 1.9 inches. The pieces are made from the highest quality ebony and boxwood and heavily weighted for good balance and stability on the chess board. The king features an elegant cross finial that you will not find on another chess set. The pieces have thick green baize pads so you can slide your pieces across the board or sit down softly.From Italfama in Italy, their Walnut Burl and Erable chess board is one of the most beautiful chess boards in our collection. The walnut burl has unique and colorful wood grain with brown and orange colors that intermingle creating irregular patterns.
