This chess set includes our Parker Series chess pieces handcrafted from golden rosewood and boxwood matched with our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board. Our Parker Staunton is a throwback to the vintage Staunton chess set patterns from over a hundred years ago. The Parker embodies the rich history of Staunton with traditional design elements in every respect from pawn to king. The knight is masterfully carved with shape, features, and detail reminiscent of past chess set masterpieces. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The golden rosewood and boxwood pieces are polished to a lustrous shine. The king is tall with a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for tournament chess games. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, the pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird's-eye maple frame. A semi-gloss polyurethane finish both protects and enhances the color of the wood. The squares are 2" with an overall footprint of 19.5".
