As an upgraded variant of the venerable F-4 Phantom the F-4G was specifically designed for the suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) missions. Equipped with advanced radar homing and warning systems as well as specialized electronic countermeasure pods the F-4G played a crucial role in neutralizing enemy surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites and radar installations during combat operations.Throughout its service with the 52nd TFW the F-4G Phantom II participated in various conflicts and military operations. One notable conflict during this period was the Gulf War in 1991 where the F-4G played a vital role in SEAD missions against Iraqi air defenses. Operating alongside other coalition aircraft the F-4G successfully suppressed enemy SAM sites and radar installations enabling allied aircraft to conduct airstrikes with reduced risk of anti-aircr.
