This chess set package includes our British Staunton Chess Set in Ebonized Boxwood and Boxwood matched with a mahogany and maple notated chess board. The polished black pieces create a nice sharp contrast against the walnut and maple chess board which many players prefer. Our British Staunton is based on an old British Chess Company chess set from many years ago. It's purely traditional with all the features a player and collector looks for in a high quality Staunton chess set. The pieces have an elegant profile that is carefully turned to perfection on every piece and the ebonized boxwood and boxwood are hand polished to a rich sheen. This beautiful chess board comes from Sunrise Chess and Games in Poland and is an excellent choice for matching with black and ivory color chess pieces. This is a handcrafted inlaid chess board made from premium quality mahogany and sycamore veneer. The craftsmanship of the inlay work is superb. Alpha-Numeric notation on the rank and file make it a great choice for club and tournament games to help with recording moves. The squares are 2" and the overall size of the board is 21.25" and .5" thick. The board is finished in a polyurethane matte finish to seal and protect the wood while enhancing the natural colors. There are corner felt pads on the bottom of the board to protect whatever surface it sets on.
