This traditional handcrafted Staunton chess set includes our Deluxe Old Club with ebonized and natural boxwood pieces with our Mahogany and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board. The Deluxe Old Club Staunton is one of our most popular models and is often called the Reykjavik. The Deluxe Old Club is an ageless classic and is one of the most recognized chess sets among chess players. It has been featured on countless covers of chess books and other chess publications. The knight features a simple but handsome design and the pieces are heavily weighted making this a poplar set for club and tournament competition as well as the game at home. These are tournament size pieces with a tall king and a base diameter of 1.625". The pieces are heavily weighted for stability on the chess board and have thick green baize pads. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.The rich orange-brown color of the mahogany makes it the ideal backdrop for the jet black ebonized and cream-colored boxwood pieces. This is an inlaid chess board made from the finest mahogany and maple veneer and sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The precision of the inlay work is remarkable. The chess board has 2.125" squares accentuated by a wide black delimiter and surrounded by an extra wide frame with a black molded edge. The overall size of the board is 21.5" and is .5" thick.
