This chess set package includes our French Lardy Staunton Chess Set with ebonized and natural boxwood wood pieces matched with a mahogany and sycamore chess board. Handcrafted in India by highly skilled turners and carvers, our French Lardy Staunton is a replica of a chess set originally produced by the old Lardy Chess Company in France. This timeless design is one of the sets that conjure the image of what an old Staunton design looks like. It's been one of the most popular sets for decades and a favorite with players at all levels. The ebonized pieces look like real ebony at half the price while the light boxwood makes the perfect white pieces. This is a regulation size set with a king and a 1.6" base. The pieces are nicely weighted for added stability and thick green baize pads provide a soft landing on the chess board. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.This beautiful chess board comes from Sunrise Chess and Games in Poland and is an excellent choice for matching with the ebonized and boxwood pieces. This is a handcrafted inlaid chess board made from premium quality mahogany and sycamore veneer. The craftsmanship of the inlay work is superb. The squares are 2" and the overall size of the board is 18.9" and .5" thick. The board is finished in a polyurethane matte finish to seal and protect the wood while enhancing the natural colors. There are corner felt pads on the bottom of the board to protect whatever surface it sets on.
