The Fierce Knight is a blend of contemporary and traditional Staunton design featuring knights carved with realistic features including perked ears, eyes, mouth, and mane create a fierce looking countenance that gives this set its name. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The ebonized pieces are lacquer polished to an obsidian black finish nearly indistinguishable from real ebony. The king is tall with a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for casual chess games at home. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, the pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.Our Black and Ash Burl Deluxe Chess Board made for us by Rechapados Ferrer combines classic design with elegant features creating an eye-catching battlefield for your chess game. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted from high quality black poplar and ash burl veneer sealed with a high gloss polyurethane finish giving the board a luxurious glass-like finish. A triple-layer delimiter defines the playing field, and a wide frame gives aesthetic balance to the board. The squares are 2" and the footprint of the board is 19.5" square. Four felt pads on the bottom will protect whatever furniture the board sets on.Our Classic Black Chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality boxes from years ago. The box is solid black with a grand piano high gloss finish. The interior is lined with a luxurious thick green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces.
