There's nothing fancy about this chess set but it has a masculine handsomeness and a traditional Staunton look that serious chess players prefer for their everyday chess set. This is a smaller size chess set with a king making it perfect for games at home. Pieces have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel when moving and are properly weighted for stability on the chess board. The golden rosewood and boxwood pieces are hand polished to a beautiful sheen.The rich brown color of our Deluxe Walnut and Maple Chess Board is perfect for matching with the golden-brown color of the golden rosewood and cream-colored boxwood pieces. This is an inlaid chess board made from the finest walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The precision of the inlay work is remarkable.
