Our French Lardy Staunton originates from the classic model produced by the French Lardy Chess Company many years ago. The simple and handsome design has proven a favorite for generations of chess players. The pieces are beautifully shaped with simple detail that will withstand the wear and tear of regular use. This set features a tall king with a base of 1.375", an ideal set for casual games at home with family and friends. Pieces have green billiard cloth pads for a soft landing on the chess board and are nicely weighted for stability. The acacia has rich golden-brown colors and a beautiful grain while the ebonized boxwood is polished to a obsidian black luster. The pieces are hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. We include a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, where it came from, and when it was made.Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird's-eye maple frame. A semi-gloss polyurethane finish both protects and enhances the color of the wood. The squares are 1.75" with an overall footprint of 19.5".Our Bird's-Eye Maple Classic Chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality chess boxes from years ago. The box is covered in beautiful bird's-eye maple veneer that perfectly matches the chess board squares and frame with a lustrous semi-gloss polyurethane finish. The interior is lined with a thick emerald-green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box has a divider in the center for conveniently storing the black and white pieces separately. We use high quality brass plated quadrant hinges that neatly recess into the wall of the box and a brass plated lock and key for securing the lid when closed.
